Mike has a long history of local family connections in the area. “My family roots are in the Christchurch area and my mother still lives in Highcliffe today.”
Originally from Buckinghamshire, Mike went with his parents to South Africa where he later trained to become a textile engineer. He joined the UK owned textile group Cyril Lord and was promoted to the position of General Manager. After 20 years service with Cyril Lord he then left to start his own retail business.
Mike found Customer Service to be a vital part of his ladies’ and mens’ wear business which became the biggest retailer of its type in the region.
After returning to England in 2005 with his family, Mike has been working in retail management and marketing.

Married to Diane, a dance teacher and choreographer, they have three children all of whom are in England. His eldest daughter is an actress and his son works for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Mike’s youngest daughter is a 6th Form student.
“We have always been involved in many community activities,” says Mike. “Diane is currently also teaching at several care homes and community centres, being one of the very few qualified persons to teach standing and seated dance for persons over 50 and also teaching dance for people with disabilities.”
Mike’s sporting activities include tennis, golf, road running and cycling. He has competed in many marathons including several international marathons. Mike was Club Captain and Chairman of his running club for many years and has more recently been involved in coaching and assisting disabled athletes.
